We Will Miss U

Hello friends!

It is the last week of school for me! Yay! Now I will have time to fit in more crafting!

I played around with distress inks today to create a card for a co-worker who is leaving after this school year. I used a Hero Arts/Studio Calico background stamp called Alphabet Pattern and heat embossed it with white Hero Arts embossing powder on watercolor paper. I used a rainbow of distress inks to create a resist over the stamp.

I die cut all of the letter "U's" from the background - making sure to cut through a card base as well. I popped up the panel with fun foam and attached the cut out circles onto the inside of the card.

I heat embossed the "we will miss" part of the sentiment using white embossing powder onto black cardstock. I finished the card off with silver glitter enamel dots.

More Baby Party Animals

I'm back with more cards using the Simon Says Stamp Baby Party Animals stamp set and matching dies. I also used the MISTI stamping tool to create the text panels.

For this first card I stamped the word "Baby" with three different colors of pink to create an ombre look. I decided I wanted some texture on the background so I used a pink ink pad to color white embossing paste and used a Tim Holtz stencil to create the distressed dots.

This is my very first attempt at no-line coloring with copics. I'm pretty sure I need lots more practice, but I am fairly happy with my first attempt!

This second card uses the same monkey stamp - because he is just too cute! I decided to stick with complementary colors blue and orange.

I popped up the banner, monkey, and present and added some orange enamel dots to finish off the card.

That's all for today! Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome Baby

End of the school year, folks... I am not finding enough time to play in my craft room. Thank goodness summer is just around the corner!

I have a friend who is having a baby shower this weekend for I had an excuse to go play and make a card for her. I used the Simon Says Stamp Baby Party Animals stamp set and matching dies to make this fun shaker card:

I colored the stamped images with Copics - including lots of little hearts from the stamp set as part of my shaker.

Mondo Magnolia - Technique #2

Hello all!

I am back with my second day of using the new Mondo Magnolia stamp set from Ellen Hutson. Today I heat embossed the Magnolia stamp with white embossing powder and used Peerless Watercolors. I used two shades for each card - two pinks and two yellows. The matching die set makes cutting out the flowers a breeze.

For this first card I die cut several leaves from both the Wild Garden and the Bold Blossom Stand-Alone die sets. I stamped the sentiment onto the card base before adding the leaves and then again after adding the leaves, using the MISTI to help with perfect placement.

I love how the tone-on-tone leaves create a lot of texture on the background!

For this second card I wanted to create a recessed look, so I popped up the green cardstock panel after die-cutting the magnolia shape out of it. I added some strips of black and white cardstock and a sentiment from the Fancy Thanks stamp set onto vellum.

Here is a closer look at the recessed flower:

Mondo Magnolia - Technique #1

Hello All!

I am in love with the Mondo Magnolia stamp from the new Ellen Hutson spring release! I have been playing with it all day and will share some techniques I am using with this stamp over the next few days.

Today I used a "spotlight" technique - coloring only part of a black and white image. I stamped two identical 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panels using the MISTI to help me! I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink since I knew I was going to be using Copic markers to color in the images.

For this first card, I cut the "Hello" section of the card using my paper trimmer and colored the section with Copics.

I then popped up the colored panel using foam tape and added sequins.

For this second card I used MFT's Stitched Basic Edges dies to cut the rounded edge and colored the top section of the panel.

Again I popped up the colored section of the panel and added sequins.

Thanks for stopping by! Come back tomorrow to see another technique with this same stamp!

SSS Card Kit - Celebrate You!

Hello all!

Today I'm playing with the SSS April card kit again. I took to color cues from the card kit and chose to work with bright pinks and oranges. I used Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade distress inks for both cards.

For this first card I cut a star using my Silhouette and used it as a mask. I sponged on a lot of Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade and then splattered it with silver acrylic paint thinned with water. After I removed this mask I splattered with black paint and added some enamel dots.

This second card uses a stencil from My Favorite Things which I sponged lots of Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade through. After embossing the sentiment from the card kit I used a die to cut a star through the sentiment. I stacked up three layers of black cardstock under the sentiment to create a popped-up section.

Mix It Up Challenge - Flowers

Hello all!

Today I have a card to share that I created for the Ellen Hutson Mix It Up Challenge. The challenge is to create a card that uses both Essentials by Ellen and Lawn Fawn products. I used a sentiment from the Lawn Fawn Hello Friend stamp set and the Essentials by Ellen Bold Blooms die sets.

I started with a kraft card base which I stenciled with MFT Natural dye ink.

To create the flowers I used distress inks on watercolor paper. I started with a light wash and then added layers of color. I die cut the flowers from the watercolor paper.

I splattered the card base with a white acrylic paint/water mix, popped up the flowers on foam tape and added some white enamel dots to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you have a wonderful day!

Just One More Yay!

I couldn't stop stamping these Yay! stamps using my MISTI, so I have one more card to share with you - the last one, I promise!

For this card I stamped the Yay! with versamark and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I used lots of distress inks to make it rainbow and fun! After the distress ink was dry I splattered the panel with a white acrylic paint/water mix.

After stamping the "It's Your Birthday" sentiment along the side of the panel in two shades of gray, I finished the card with silver baker's twine and silver glitter enamel dots.

Multiples With MISTI - SSS April Cart Kit (take 2!)

While I had my MISTI out to make the card set I shared yesterday, I decided to continue stamping (since it is so easy to do!) and make a variation on the card.

I used the Wplus9 Storybook Collection dye ink pads to stamp the Yay! repeatedly:

I stamped the striped stamp from the SSS Hand Lettered Winter Wishes in Versamark ink and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Here are all four cards in the set:

I was so into stamping the Yay! stamp with the MISTI that there still may be one more card left to share...

Have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by!

Multiples with MISTI - SSS April Card Kit

As many before me have discovered, the MISTI is truly an amazing tool! When I got my Simon Says Stamp April card kit, I knew I wanted to create a set of cards using the MISTI. I used the large "YAY!" from the stamp set to create a repeated stamping panel:

I used the triangle stamp and the "It's Your Day" stamp from the SSS "Sparkle and Shine" set. The Yay! panel is popped off the card base. I added some silver thread behind the sentiment and some silver glitter enamel dots to finish it off.

I used four colors of cardstock from My Favorite Things: Grape Jelly, Sour Apple, Razzle Berry, and Blu Raspberry. Here are the other three color combos:

The MISTI makes is so easy to stamp all of these cards at once! Here are all four cards together:

MFT Sketch Challenge #215

Hello all!

Today I am sharing a card I made based on the My Favorite Things sketch challenge. Here is the sketch:
I started by created the globe by cutting the You Mean the World to Me Die-Namics out of Sour Apple and Blueberry cardstock. I cut several black circles the same size as the globe to pop it up.
To add some interest I heat embossed the entire globe using a clear glitter powder. The shine in real life is just amazing!

I stamped the "World's Best Friend" using the You're Super clear stamp set, punched the pink hearts using the heart die from the Cool Day Die-Namic set. To create the green accent along the side of the card I used the Diagonal Bars Stencil and Sour Apple dye ink.
