Thanks

Today I am playing along with the Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge.

This week is an Picture Perfect challenge based on the picture below:

I took inspiration from the various shades of brown and decided to color some flowers in shades of brown. I placed them on blue cardstock to give some color to the card.

I popped one of the labels to give some dimension to the card.

Distressed Chevrons

Happy Wednesday!

I decided to play with one of my favorite techniques - distress inks to create a background. I used the "Chevron Background" stamp from Studio Calico/Hero Arts. I used a foam dauber to add the distress inks to the stamp, then spritzed the stamp with lots of water and stamped on watercolor paper. I added the rhinestones to complement the sparkling sentiment.

Large Open Flower

Happy Tuesday!

I decided to play around with one of my Hero Arts stamps; "Large Open Flower." Love this stamp and how it can be colored in so many different ways.

This first card was colored with copics. I wanted to make a CAS card where the flower would be the focal point. I added the sentiment on vellum.

This second card I heat embossed and watercolored with distress inks in "Worn Lipstick." I popped the panel off the card with foam tape and tied the ribbon to add softness.

Brush Strokes

I just got this awesome new stamp set in the mail!

Yep, the "Brush Strokes" stamp set from the new Hero Arts "Stamp Your Story" line. Love. It. Obviously I had to play with some of the stamps...

This first card was fun and quick. I used lots of distress inks on the stamps and spritzed them with water to make the watercolor/paint effect. The heart and the message are heat embossed.

This second card was also made with distress inks. I wanted to create a multi-color paint streak by using two different color distress inks and overlapping them in the middle.

I heat embossed the sentiment and added a black heart with glossy accents to finish the card.

Glitter!

I wanted to show a quick and easy way to add glitter to embellishments by using a xyron machine.

For this card I wanted the "hello" to be glittery and eye-catching but didn't want to have to deal with adding lots of glue to get the glitter effect. I cut "hello" several times in black and ran them all through the xyron machine to help create some height to the word. The last word, I ran through the xyron upside down, with the "right side" facing the adhesive.

I then stacked all the "hellos" together to make one thick word and added the last word to the top with the adhesive side facing up. I now had a shape with the adhesive all ready for me to get glittery!

Since I created my entire embellishment on the xyron paper I was able to simply peel it off and stick it onto my card! I created the background using distress inks in "Mowed Lawn" and added some hot pink stars for a pop of color.
